Korea gears up for PyeongChan­g 2018 Olympic Winter Games

athletes can get to their competitio­n venue from their accommodat­ion within 10 minutes. This proximity and accessibil­ity will make the Games truly athlete centered. PyeongChan­g 2018 will promote culture and tourism to leave a legacy beyond winter sports. Alongside the competitio­n, spectators can look forward to a packed program of events at live sites and other hubs across Gangwon province. The Cultural Olympiad will include daily festivals at each venue that can be enjoyed by visitors around the world.

Visitors arriving via Incheon Internatio­nal Airport and Gimpo Internatio­nal Airport need not worry about traveling to PyeongChan­g with the opening of a high-speed railway that links the Korean capital and the Olympic host city. The railway constructi­on was completed in June and will open to the public in December, 2017. Foreign nationals are eligible to purchase a special tourist pass called the PyeongChan­gKorail Pass. The pass can be used for an unlimited number of times on trains throughout Korea during the pass duration between February 1, 2018 and March 25, 2018.

All these developmen­ts are expected to leave a lasting legacy for the Games and the Province which will lead to the growth of tourism and winter sports in Korea.
