Ople lauds ASEAN on employment

Migrant advocate Susan Ople welcomed yesterday the new initiative of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to boost the protection of migrant workers since it will open up safer employment opportunities to overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in the Middle East. Ople said the newly signed ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of Rights of Migrant Workers will enable the government to offer alternative job opportunities to OFWs in the Middle East in case the political tension in the said region escalates.
