Traffic woes cause class suspensions
BAGUIO CITY — Mayor Mauricio Domogan suspended classes in the pre-school, elementary, and high school levels in the city early morning yesterday, citing a “very serious traffic problem.” Domogan’s declaration at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday covered both public and private schools as a heavy influx of domestic tourists in this summer capital of the country was observed since the weekend. Work and classes are suspended in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan and Tarlac this week as the country hosts the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings. The mayor said he expects the holiday crowd to be in the city until Wednesday, along with it the difficult-tomanage traffic congestion. (Zaldy C. Comanda)
