57 grad­u­ates of farm­ers’ train­ing

TA­CLOBAN CITY — Fifty-seven farm­ers re­cently grad­u­ated from the three-month train­ing con­ducted by two farmeras­so­ci­a­tions in two barangays of Bu­rauen. The farm­ers were vic­tims of su­per ty­phoon Yolanda. Leyte Gov­er­nor Leopoldo Do­minico L. Petilla, who dis­trib­uted the cer­tifi­cates of com­ple­tion, told Manila Bul­letin that there that the farm­ers com­pleted the train­ing on high value crops and veg­eta­bles. He said that cash as­sis­tance of P5,000 each was given to the farm­ers for them to open bank ac­counts in the name of their or­ga­ni­za­tion to trans­act busi­ness with gov­ern­ment agen­cies or pri­vate en­ti­ties. Petilla said the farm­ers are now prac­tic­ing or­ganic farm­ing. (Resti­tuto Cayu­bit)
