ZCSPC soon to become a university – Lobregat
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Members of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) have finished conducting an evaluation on the present status of the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) which is seeking conversion into a university.
The group, spearheaded by House Committee on Higher and Technical Education Chairman and Zamboanga Sibugay Rep. Anna Hofer, and Zamboanga City Rep. Celso Lobregat led the site and facility inspection, documentary analysis, and interview of key officials that will allow them to determine if ZCSPC was already ready to be converted into a university.
Lobregat is principal author of House Bill 3929, which seeks to convert SCSPC into the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University.
HB 3929 has already been approved at the committee level in the House of Representatives pending compliance with some requirements mandated by law.
Lobregat said an evaluation of the school site and facilities was needed by the CHED Central Office and the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education before HB 3929 could be presented in plenary.
According to Lobregat the conversion of ZCSPC into a university status will enhance its mission to provide effective and efficient services through advanced technological studies and researches for the tertiary students in Zamboanga City and the region.
