CrossFit PH growing bigger and better

-

The CrossFit community in the Philippines continues to get bigger and stronger year after year, proven with another successful throwing of The Fittest Team 2017 Championships, held recently at the Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park in Kawit, Cavite.

This functional fitness competition is the biggest CrossFit event in the land. A total of 70 teams went through the final series of grueling workouts of the day (WOD), which combined the usual strength and skills training that CrossFit sessions entailed, with the requirement of accomplishing them as a team in 7-12 minutes. The teams that finished in their respective categories with the highest scores were declared: The Fittest.

As many as 180 beginners and experienced athletes were put to the test, in pairs and trios for men, women, and mixed groups. The day-long competition showcased the most challenging scaled and Rx’d (or “as prescribed”) exercises, from burpees, pistol squats, and pull-ups, to the more exciting team pushups, rope climbing and deadlifts, to name a few.

“The whole idea is to promote fitness,” said Jason Monteverde, chairman of Affiliate Alliance.

The champion teams were the Samureapers from the Iron Den CF box, the Sentinel Steels from CF Salcedo, Dirty South Peeps from Central Ground CP, Primapes from Primal Ape CF, Rolls Royce from Stayfit Box Cebu, OG from HIT Arena, #Southstrong from Southside Fitness Cebu, and Barney & Friend from CF Highstreets. CF Highstreets ended up topping the Community Cup category, while PR City CF topped the Affiliate Cup.
