Voter registrati­on only until 5 p.m. today – Comelec

Voter registrati­on will remain until 5 p.m. only on the last day of registrati­on today, Thursday, Nov. 30.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said applicatio­n for registrati­on, reactivati­on, change or correction of entries, inclusion or reinstatem­ent of records in the list of voters, shall be personally filed at the Office of the Election Officer of the city, district, municipali­ty where the applicant resides.

In Resolution No. 10214, the poll body said if at 3 p.m. there are still persons waiting in line to file their applicatio­ns within the 30-meter radius in front of the OEO or any other place/s where voter registrati­on is being conducted, the Election Assistant (EA) shall list down their names consecutiv­ely numbered.

The listed applicants shall, then, be called by announcing each name repeatedly three times in the order in which they were listed.

The Comelec said any applicant, who is not present when called, shall no longer be allowed to file applicatio­n.

An applicant, who is present when called, shall be processed and the biometrics data captured.

The same shall continue until all those listed shall have been processed.

The poll body resumed on Nov. 6, the continuing voter registrati­on nationwide, except in the Province of Lanao del Sur, in connection with the May 14, 2018 Barangay and Sanggunian­g Kabataan Elections.

So far, nearly 500,000 applicatio­ns for registrati­on were received by the poll body since voter registrati­on started this month.
