Governor urges poultry industry to boost standards
BACOLOD CITY — Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. urged the poultry integrators to cooperate with the provincial government to strengthen biosecurity measures of the province and boost the poultry industry.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena said that during the oath-taking ceremonies of the officers of the newlyestablished Association of Broiler Integrators of Negros Occidental, Monday, the governor told them that he needs their help to boost the poultry industry standards of the province to keep up with globalization.
Decena said that the province is planning to export local chicken through establishing AAA facilities for slaughtering and dressing chickens and the help of the integrators will be significant in this move.
Marañon led the oath-taking of the officers of ABINO, making Negros as the only province to organize local livestock integrators in the country, Decena said.
Decena also revealed that in the 168 commercial farms they inspected together with the integrators, 132 passed standards to renew their permits to operate, while the 36 are subject for re-inspection.
Officers who took oath yesterday were Hassel Calda, president; Irene Limson, vice president; Mhel Azuela, treasurer and secretary; and Nurwin Cheng, Ephrem Gabutan, Jeffryll Salamisan, Arthur Maramba, Loreto Tomolin Jr., Arnel Cocy and Richard Nagac, directors.
