Siwon set to join Super Junior concerts

- By JONATHAN M. HICAP

K-pop boy band Super Junior member Siwon will participate in the group’s concerts in Seoul from Dec. 15 to 17. Siwon has been lying low following the death in the first week October of a restaurant owner who was bitten by his dog on Sept. 30.

He apologized for the incident but he and his family were severely critiing cized for allowing the dog named Bugsy to roam around without a leash. “We discussed ’till the final stage whether to include Siwon or not, but since the contract was inked several months ago, it was practically impossible to make any change (to the concerts),” said Label SJ, Super Junior’s agency, according to Yonhap News.

Super Junior released their new album “Play” on Nov. 6 but Siwon opted out of the album promotions because of the dog-biting incident.

As a result, only Leeteuk, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Heechul, Yesung, and Shindong promoted the album including performing and guesting on TV shows.

After it became public that the restaurant owner died of sepsis, Siwon issued an apology to the victim’s family.

“As a member of the family raisof the dog, I feel greatly responsible. I should have been more careful but this tragic incident occurred. I deeply repent and will take measures to ensure such an incident will never recur,” he said, Yonhap News reported.

During the press conference for the new album, Leeteuk said, “We feel terrible and very sad because Siwon cannot be with us. Our past 12 years have been eventful, but we didn’t give up, and we overcame all of our troubles.”
