Last suspect in Pasay woman’s murder nabbed

- By MARTIN A. SADONGDONG

The fifth and final suspect in the murder of a woman whose body was found along South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) in Cabuyao, Laguna last month surrendered to authorities in Pasay City Tuesday afternoon.

Danilo Flores, 20, submitted himself to officials of Barangay 186, Maricaban, Pasay City around 1 p.m., according to Police Community Precinct (PCP) 8 commander Senior Inspector Ferdinand Duren.

Flores’ surrender came hours after three of his friends who were also tagged in the death of Clarissalyn Lizardo, 27, yielded to barangay and police officers before dawn Tuesday. The three other suspects were identified as Melvin Astorida, 18; Russel Torres, 18, cousin of the primary suspect, and Buboy Phi, 23.

The primary suspect, Alfredo Torres Jr., 32, and Lizardo’s live-in partner, told police that the four men helped him carry the body of Lizardo inside his red Honda car for disposal.

Torres allegedly shot Lizardo in the head on November 28 out of jealousy while the suspects and the victim were having a drinking session inside the suspect’s house at Area B Chest Clinic Compound, Saint Joan St., Barangay 186, Maricaban.

Together with the four accomplices, Torres drove Lizardo’s body all the way to Cabuyao, Laguna where she was supposed to be buried.

However, Torres’ car malfunctioned along SLEx so the suspects just dumped her body and fled on foot.

Authorities found Lizardo’s decomposing body on December 2.

The victim’s partner was arrested the same day when he went back to the crime scene to fetch his car with a mechanic.

The four accomplices claimed they were forced by Torres to help him or they would be killed.

However, Duren said that the father of Lizardo, Ronald, believes they were not obliged to take part in the crime.

“Malaki ang paniwala niya na hindi sila pinilit dahil sabi ng ilang witness, nagtatawanan pa raw sila habang isinasakay ‘yung bangkay sa kotse,” Duren told the Manila Bulletin.

The fifth suspect was brought to Pasay City Police headquarters and charged with an accessory to murder case.
