VP’s ‘Istorya ng Pag-asa’ partners with schools
The Office of the Vice President is looking at other schools and universities in Metro Manila to be its partners for the “Istorya ng Pag-asa” project.
Vice President Leni Robredo disclosed that her office is working to partner with Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Miriam College, Far Eastern University and other schools in University Belt, Manila.
“We will launch this first in FEU so it will be the first but after we launch, we will take charge of inviting all other schools in the University Belt,” Robredo said.
Robredo said PUP and Miriam College have also been in talks with her office for the launch of her Istorya ng Pag-asa program.
“PUP also plans to partner with us and involve all the PUP sites all over the country,” she noted. “We haven’t talked to UST (University of Sto. Tomas). We also plan to invite UST to be a partner.”
The OVP’s partnership with these universities mark the project’s expansion around the country, with each “INP University” featuring inspiring stories of students, faculty members, alumni, and employees.
Istorya ng Pag-Asa is a photo exhibit initiated by the OVP in “an effort to present an alternative narrative to the prevailing trend of negativity and hate through stories of hope, optimism, and inspiration.”
The traveling gallery has made it to the halls of Ateneo De Manila University in Quezon City, University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, University of Cordilleras in Baguio, Xavier University in Cagayan De Oro, and Silliman University in Dumaguete City.
Under its INP program, the OVP also launched a nationwide, all-digital film competition or short film festival for Filipino filmmakers.
The entries, which should not exceed five minutes, must feature true stories of inspiration from ordinary citizens. Interested filmmakers can submit their entries for the short film festival until February 25 next year.
The top 10 entries will be shown at a gala night on June 12, 2018, where three winners—including Best Film and two runners-up—will be announced. The competition’s finalists will win cash prizes and have their entries screened at cinemas of Ayala Malls.
