2 weather systems up – PAGASA

- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

Two weather systems will prevail over the country this Sunday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tail-end of cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, which could trigger flash floods or landslides over the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.

Meanwhile, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province will have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains also due to amihan.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers especially over the eastern section of the country due to localized thunderstorms. By Monday and Tuesday, PAGASA said the tailend of cold front and a broad low pressure system east of the country will affect the weather throughout the archipelago.

It said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rains and isolated moderate to occasional heavy rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Aurora, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Masbate, while partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain showers over the whole Visayas and Mindanao, which will be widespread along the eastern side.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with light rains and isolated thunderstorms.

By Wednesday until Thursday, PAGASA said a low pressure area is forecast to move closer to the Visayas, while the tail-end of cold front will continue to affect some parts of Luzon.

It noted that Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Bulacan will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with isolated thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, bringing moderate to heavy rains during thunderstorms.
