RLC opens second mall in Tacloban

- By JAMES A. LOYOLA

Robinsons Land Corporation, the Gokongwei Group’s property development arm, has opened its second mall in Tacloban, also its 47th nationwide, as the city’s economy continues to flourish amid the hard work and resilience of its residents.

“The economic activity in Tacloban is amazing. We have decided to open a second mall after having expanded Robinsons Place Tacloban twice in response to strong demand from Taclobanons for a place for everyone to shop, relax, and catch up with friends and family,” said Robinsons Land in a statement.

The new mall, Robinsons North Tacloban is RLC’s 12th in the Visayas. Robinsons North Tacloban is also the third Robinsons Malls to open this year following Robinsons Place Iligan in July and Robinsons Place Naga in August.

Robinsons North Tacloban has a gross floor area of over 34,000 square meters and a gross leasable area of over 23,000 sqm., including 3 state of the art cinemas plus 1 in 3D format. Robinsons Movieworld cinemas are spread over three floors.

Anchor tenants will be led by Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Appliances, Handyman, Daiso, and Robinsons Movieworld. It will also have a vibrant mix casual dining and quick-serve restaurants, coffee shops, global and local fashion boutiques, specialty shops and banks.

Robinsons North Tacloban is strategically located across the Tacloban Bus Terminal in Abucay, which is the new fastgrowing commercial center of Tacloban City and home to the largest fertilizer plant in Asia.

Because the bus terminal is just in front of the mall, Robinsons North Tacloban will be catering not just to residents of Abucay but also travellers from other parts of Leyte, Samar and even Mindanao.

“Robinsons North Tacloban is offering Taclobanons a different and new experience compared to Robinsons Place Tacloban. It has new concepts and partners not yet in the city,” said Robinsons Malls General Manager Arlene G. Magtibay.
