Germany-based pharma company diversifies in PH, to set up shared services center here
Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies worldwide, is set to open a shared services center in the Philippines as part of its global expansion program.
Headquartered in Ingelheim in Germany, diversfied firm Boehringer Ingelheim is currently operating across the globe through a manpower of 50,000.
The group is operating in the Philippines through Boehringer Ingelheim (Philippines), Inc. (BIPHI), which is recognized as one of the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies in the country.
"To support its continuous growth here and around the world, Boehringer Ingelheim has been undertaking a global expansion program, a part of which is the establishment of shared services centers," Boehringer Ingelheim said in a statement.
These centers are located in Ingelheim, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Manila, Philippines.
"A third shared services center is now ready to open its doors — Boehringer Ingelheim Business Services Philippines, Incorporated (BIBSPI)," the company announced.
Boehringer Ingelheim explained in a statement that setting up BIBSPI makes a lot of economic sense for the company as the Philippines remains one of the most ideal investment locations within Southeast Asia.
"The Filipino workforce is also reputed as being exceptionally skilled, widely articulate in numerous international languages, notably efficient and exceedingly dedicated," it said.
Toward standardizing and centralizing target processes, BIBSPI is set to provide back-office master data, finance, commercial, purchasing and HR services to Boehringer Ingelheim entities in North America, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand.
It will also function as a service center for Southeast Asian countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia.
In particular, BIBSPI is tasked to provide business support services for finance, such as procurement, accounts payable, treasury, master data management, order to cash, and P2P first level support, as well as for HR-related services, like human resources evaluation and recommendation, personnel management and staff outsourcing.
