Couple shot dead in Caloocan City

-

A couple, who was allegedly into drug peddling, was gunned down by two still unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of a school in Caloocan City on Thursday night.

Police identified the victims as Luisito Bandola, 45, a welder, and his live-in partner, Edna Umali, 47. Both are residents of Bagumbong, Caloocan.

Just last week, a couple was also shot dead by motorcycle-riding armed men while on their way home in Caloocan City.

Initial investigation showed that at around 10 p.m., the couple was attacked by two gunmen while traveling along Bagumbong Road, in front of Bagumbong Elementary School. Bandola and Umali were reportedly on their way home that night.

Reports said that the gunmen who were aboard two motorcycles stopped the vehicle of the couple by blocking their way.

The couple, according to probers, even had a brief conversation with their perpetrators before the gunmen open fired.

Probers said Bandola and Umali sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body, leading to their instantaneous death.

The still unidentified armed men immediately sped off after the incident, witnesses said.

Seized from the crime scene were ten empty shells and three deformed slugs of a still unidentified firearm.

Residents in the area told policemen that the couple was involved in illegal drug activities.

The children of the victims said that their parents have no known enemy.

Meanwhile, the children of the couple did not allow cops to perform autopsy to the bodies of their parents.

Police are now hunting down the gunmen who killed the couple. (Kate Louise B. Javier)
