Keep off drugs and crime, new Bilibid inmates told

- By JEFFREY G. DAMICOG

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II urged new inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) not to get involved in illegal drug activities or any other crimes while in prison.

“Huwag kayong sumama sa gulo at tiwaling gawain habang kayo nandito (Don’t get involved in any mess or anomalous activities here),” Aguirre told around 1,800 new NBP inmates Wednesdasy night.

“Huwag na huwag kayo madadamay sa droga, sa krimen dito sa loob (Don’t ever get involved in drugs and other crimes inside),” he said.

Aguirre reminded then that it is the mission of President Duterte to eradicate illegal drugs in the country.

“Alam ninyo yan ang misyon ng Pangulong Duterte na pawiin ang droga sa ibabaw at balat ng Pilipinas (You know this is President Duterte’s mission to cure the drug menace in the Philippines),” he said.

Aguirre was at the NBP for an outreach program for the new inmates of the national penitentiary.

The secretary assured inmates their good behavior inside the prison walls will be rewarded with their early release.

“Huwag mawalan ng pag-asa (Don’t lose hope),” he said.

“Under the new law on good conduct and time allowance, good conduct and spending time will be the key for your early release,” the secretary explained in the vernacular.
