CEBU CITY – Parts of the cities of Cebu and Talisay will have no water for 10 hours next week, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) has announced.

MCWD said the service interruption on December 28 will allow the second interconnection of a newly installed pipeline that is part of the P638-million underpass project on N. Bacalso Avenue in this city.

MCWD said consumers in elevated and interior parts of Talisay and areas including Bulacao Pardo, Cogon Pardo, Inayawan, Pardo, Kinasang-an, Basak Pardo, Quiot, Basak San Nicolas will be affected by the water outage.

Also affected are Mambaling, Duljo, San Nicolas Proper, Sawang Calero, Suba, Pasil, Pahina San Nicolas, Pahina Central, Kalubihan, Ermita, Sto. Niño, Parian, San Roque, Tinago, a part of Kamagayan, Cebu City,

Consumers are advised to store enough water for the duration of the interruption.

‘’As in any development project, there will be some inconveniences during the construction phase. We appeal for the public’s understanding and cooperation in storing water to minimize the inconvenience especially during the holidays,” said MCWD General Manager Jose Singson Jr.

MCWD contracted the P11.69million pipelaying project that started last November 15.

The contract is for 90 days but since the underpass is being rushed, the contractor is moving as fast so the pipelaying can be done as soon as the excavations are completed.

MCWD is altering its 16-inch diameter transmission line, one of MCWD’s biggest pipes in Metro Cebu, that delivers water from the Lagtang wells in Talisay to parts of downtown Cebu that will be affected by the underpass.

Two portions of the pipeline will be cut and the first of four interconnections was completed last December 18, which resulted in an emergency water interruption.
