Ozamiz archbishop expresses solidarity, prays for ‘Urduja’ victims, survivors

Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad continues to pray for the victims and survivors of typhoon “Urduja” in Eastern Visayas as he offers assistance particular­ly to the Diocese of Naval where a landslide buried alive several people in the town of Biliran.

“I take cognizance of the suffering of those affected by typhoon Urduja. We are one with you in your pains and difficulti­es. In the midst of pain, I know that the Lord suffers with you. We are ready to provide assistance in any way we can. We are also praying for all of you,” Jumoad said over Church-run Radio Veritas.

The prelate also assured the families of the landslide victims in Biliran of his prayers and support.

“We know that you are in the midst of sorrow, particular­ly families who lost a brother or a son or a daughter or a sister. We are praying for you. We know how painful it is when someone loses a son or a daughter and we are one with you in your pain. May the Lord embrace you and provide you with comfort,” Jumoad said.

Archbishop Jumoad, likewise, expressed support and solidarity with newly installed bishop of the Diocese of Naval Bishop Rex Ramirez who is faced with the task of helping his flock rebuild their lives.

According to records, typhoon “Urduja” is the 21st weather disturbanc­e to affect the country this year. More than 40 individual­s reportedly died while more than 40 remain missing.
