BUTUAN CITY – The regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) appealed to physicians who vaccinated Dengvaxia to 223 people, including children, to closely monitor their patients.

In a recent year-end press forum here led by DOH 13 Regional Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, officials of the DOH disclosed that at least 223 people including children from various parts of the region were vaccinated with Dengvaxia.

Those vaccinated with Dengvaxia were 121 male and 102 female, aged nine up to 50 years old.

DOH 13 Regional spokesperson Romelyn Torralba said the regional office of the DOH 13 appealed to the physicians in some private hospitals to closely monitor the children they had vaccinated.

Parents of these children were also advised to bring them to their physicians for consultation, she said.

“The parent should not wait of their children to have some fever or rashes in their skin, they must bring their children now to their physicians for check up,” stressed Torralba.

Officials of the DOH 13 said that there was no cause for alarm on Dengvaxia as the government was already investigating the controversy.

The DOH has strengthened its active surveillance of individuals vaccinated with Dengvaxia in National Capital Region, Regions 3, 4-A, Calabarson and part of Region 7 (Cebu).
