We are really versatile and we want to show more people that we can branch out.

Afew years before becoming big stars, James Reid and Nadine Lustre were in it for the music. He even released an album in 2013 and she followed suit the following year.

But then the films and teleseryes “Diary Ng Panget The Movie,” “Talk Back And You’re Dead,” “On The Wings Of Love,” “This Time,” and “Till I Met You” happened and, well, music had to take the backseat in favor of acting.

This year there will be balance and independence, the two vowed.

“‘We’ve grown so much as a love team but we know we have so much (more) to show,” James said. “We are really versatile and we want to show more people that we can branch out.”

“Kasi sa amin po we do so much together as a love team and as a couple so siyempre we also need to grow ng kami lang, ng sa sarili namin na hindi

kami magkasama as a person and as an artist din as well,” Nadine said.

His latest album “Palm Dreams” is step in right direction. It bagged him the Best Southeast Asian Act in MTV Europe Music Award last year. The opus took almost a year to finish under his own record label Careless Music Manila.

James revealed he is set to produce one track in Nadine’s upcoming album.

On the other hand, Nadine sat on the director’s chair and shot one of the music video of James’ songs.

Asked how it was working with her boyfriend in that capacity, she admitted it was easy as “iba po ’yung connection namin.”

“Naisip ko po kasi na meron po kasi kaming mga travel videos so naisipan ko po na pag konektin lahat tapos parang gawing isang travel video ulit ’yung music video niya,” she said of the video’s concept. Nadine, lest we forget, was a film student back in the day.

More in store

James is set to do three movies this year while Nadine will have two.

One of these for him is “Pedro Penduko” in which he plays the titular character. James will also star in a Filipino remake of the hit 2014 Korean film “Miss Granny” with Sarah Geronimo as his leading lady.

Nadine’s solo flick is “The Nurse,” her first foray into the horror genre.

They will do a movie together dubbed “Never Not Love You.” It’s a romance film written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, who’s also behind box-office hits like “Love You To The Stars And Back,” “Achy Breaky Hearts” and “That Thing Called Tadhana.”

James revealed they’re leaving for London likely this month to shoot scenes.

They describe the film as about “young reckless love.” The storyline runs across decades.

JaDine will return to primetime TV on ABS-CBN. The yet-untitled soap to be helmed by Dan Villegas is scheduled to start taping in the second quarter of the year.

The two promised that for 2018, they will show who Nadine and James truly are as artists. “Talagang ’yung creativity po namin ay ilalabas po namin para sa mga fans.”

They will hold the major concert “Revolution: The Jadine Concert” on Feb. 9 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The concert features unforgettable upbeat production numbers and heartmelting romantic moments worthy of the multi-talented multi-media love team.

They divulged the vibes would be as if the concertgoers are watching a movie and a concert at the same time, “like a big party.” “Mas masho-showcase po namin ’yung music po namin at kung sino po kami talaga as an artist hindi lang po at celebrity unlike last year (na concert namin) na medyo may konektado pa rin po sa teleserye namin,” Nadine said. “This time po ay talagang more on music side po namin ang ipapakita po namin.”

Both are hands-on with the concert. Nadine will be directing some of the visual or VTRs and they’re behind the concept of the show.

“We’re really very excited po for this concert po kasi talagang galing po sa

utak at tsaka sa puso namin. We are really excited to show this to everyone,” Nadine said.

The JaDine Concert will have guest performers Sarah Geronimo, Sam Concepcion, Kiana Valenciano, Bret Jackson, and Vice Ganda. And it will be directed by Paul Basinillo, dance choreography by Teacher Georcelle and the musical director is Jay Agustin.

James and Nadine will also take the “Revolution” on the road with a provincial tour in April and a series of shows in the US in May.
