Bulacan: Five killed, 95 nabbed in anti-drugs ops

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — At least five people were killed and 95 other illegal drugs suspects were arrested in a wave of police operations in Bulacan last Wednesday, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said.

Chief Superinten­dent Amador V. Corpus, PRO3 director, said illegal drugs, firearms and ammunition­s were also seized after the operatives stormed the so-called “hot spots” in the province from the first minute of the day until midnight of January 10.

Citing the report of Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, Corpus identified those killed as an alias “Popeye”; Arwin Dave A. Martin, alias “Daboy” of San Jose del Monte; Sonny Pablo Torres, alias “Sonny Boy” in the City of Malolos; Rommel F. Mercado, alias “Nog-Nog” in Santa Maria; and Christian Abarquez in Calumpit.

Caramat reported that his men conducted 53 buy-bust operations; three Service of Warrants Of Arrest (WOA); three implementa­tion of Search Warrants; and two other police operations – a checkpoint and a police response.

Seized in the anti-drugs operations were 277 heat-sealed plastic sachets of “shabu” with an estimated total weight of 170.949 grams; 12 sachets of marijuana weighing 21.86 grams; nine firearms and assorted; and one hand grenade.

Caramat said 23 police stations in Bulacan including the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and Provincial Intelligen­ce Branch (PIB) were involved in the crackdown.
