Bacolod, Negros Occ. tourism roads getting upgrade

BACOLOD CITY—About 1580 million in tourism road projects in Negros Occidental and Bacolod has been approved under the Tourism Road Infrastruc­ture Program for 2018.

Supervisin­g Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares said 15 road projects are targeted for completion in 2022 under the Department of TourismDep­artment of Public Works and Highways’ Convergenc­e Program.

The 1580 million is only for this year, with the seven districts including the lone district of Bacolod have a total proposed budget of 13.471 billion for tourism road projects.

Bacolod and the sixth district of Negros Occidental has a P90 million allocation, while the second to fifth districts will have about P100 million each.

For Bacolod, 1415 million will go to improving Hernaez Street leading to Murcia, and the Bacolod boundary road from Arceo proper in Barangay Alangilan, leading to the Campuestoh­an Highland Resort.

The second district has proposed 1775 million for the concreting of the access roads leading to the Lakawon Island Resort in Cadiz City, to barangays Puey and Bato in Sagay City, to Pacol Falls, Alimatoc Rice Terraces and the Prayer Mountain in Cadiz City, and to Bulanon-PurokBangc­al, Sagay City.

The third district has two projects for the concreting of 34 kilometers of the Bangga Dose-First Farmers’ MillBarang­ay Concepcion Tourism Road in Talisay City, and the access road leading to the Imbang San FernandoTu­nangan Road in Talisay. The proposed budget is 1758.4 million.

The fourth district has proposed 1253 million for the Alianza-AyungonLa Carlota Road leading to either the Bantayan Park or Balay Daku in Bago City, and the Mailum-Pataan Road leading to the Pataan and Tinago Mountain Resort in Bago City, due for completion in 2022.

The fifth district proposed the upgrading of the access road leading to the Binadlan Falls in Binalbagan in 2018. The project has a proposed total cost of 1711 million.

In the Sixth District of Negros Occidental proposed 1599M the concreting and improvemen­t of the Kabankalan­Bais National Primary Road leading to Mag-aso Falls in Kabankalan City, the Bacolod South National Road leading to the DaanBanwa bird watching area in Kabankalan City; and
