2 alien fugitives nabbed in Visayas

- By JUN RAMIREZ

Immigration agents have arrested two foreign nationals in the Visayas who are wanted for sex crimes in their homelands. Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the alien fugitives as Robert Michael Eastwood, a 67-year-old Briton, and Frank Carson Jr., a 68-yearold American.

They were arrested in separate operations conducted by the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

Eastwood was arrested Wednesday in Barangay Canuntog, Ormoc City, and Carson the next day at the Alegria Palms Subdivision in Cordova, Cebu.

Morente said he ordered the aliens’ arrest at the request of their embassies in Manila which informed the Bureau of Immigration of the outstanding arrest warrants issued against the two.

Eastwood and Carson will be deported and blacklisted to ensure that they do not return to the Philippines,” he added.

According to FSU chief Bobby Raquepo, Eastwood is a registered sex offender (RSO) who is on the UK police’s wanted list. He was reportedly charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls, armed robbery; and gun possession.

Carson has an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court in Alameda County, California, USA, for failure to register as a sex offender.

It was also learned that Carson is considered an undocumented alien after his American passport was cancelled.

They are detained at the Immigration detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City, while bureau’s board of commissioners work on their deportation.
