1,802 displaced workers get cash grants

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Provincial Government here provided cash grants to at least 1,802 Tulong Panghanapb­uhay Para sa Displaced Workers (TuPAD) members during distributi­on rites held at the Bren Z. Guaio Convention Center here.

Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, who led the distributi­on, said that the members received a total of 13,800 cash salary for serving 10 days by cleaning their respective communitie­s.

TuPAD is a community-based (municipali­ty/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemplo­yed, and unemployed poor, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.

Under the program, the beneficiar­ies will receive minimum wage, social insurance amounting to 165,000 for accidental death/disability, medical reimbursem­ent and bereavemen­t assistance, as well as personal protective equipment for added protection. As post-emergency employment assistance, they can also avail of free skills training to prepare them for self or wage employment.

In a brief speech, Pineda extended his gratitude to the DOLE-Central Luzon office for their continuous support for the province and as well assured the TuPAD members of their assistance in terms of funding to sustain the program.

Alex Inza Cruz, Chief-Technical Support and Services Division DOLE Region III, likewise assured of the DOLE’s support for the province for TuPAD.

The vice governor, meanwhile, advised the beneficiar­ies to spend their salary wisely such as that of their kids’ tuition, groceries or other needs of their family.
