Revenge in the air as Alab battles Slingers

Game Today (OCBC Arena, Singapore) 4 p.m. - Singapore vs Alab Pilipinas

San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas tries to exact revenge on the Singapore Slingers today as another thrilling battle looms for both teams in the ASEAN Basketball League at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

After securing San Miguel as new sponsor following the sudden pullout of Tanduay, Alab's focus now centers on extending its winning run to three games and make amends with the host Slingers for being handed its only loss in January.

Tipoff is set at 4 p.m. with Alab's confidence on a high following Wednesday's dramatic 94-91 overtime victory over fancied Chinese club Chong Son Kung Fu at the City of Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.

Imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman are expected to once again carry the torch for Alab, Ray Parks hopes to keep his hot form after firing 31 points against Chong Son and Josh Urbiztondo and Lawrence Domingo seek to play key roles anew for coach Jimmy Alapag.

Alab won six of seven games in January to gain an inside track at making the playoffs. The lone defeat came against the Slingers at home with a 90-80 result last Jan. 10.

But Alapag and company have had success against the Slingers this season, posting an 89-80 overtime win in the Lion City three days earlier.

The Filipino cagers will have another difficult task facing the Singapore side powered by two-time World Import MVP Chris Charles, Fil-American AJ Mandani, Xavier Alexander and local Ng Hanbin.
