Go to court for Duterte hidden wealth allegation, Trillanes told

- By MARIO B. CASAYURAN

Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III yesterday suggested to opposition Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes IV to directly go to the courts for resolution of his hidden wealth allegation against President Duterte and members of his family.

If Trillanes really has evidence to back up his allegations that the President and his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, have ‘undisclosed bank transactions’, Trillanes is free go to the courts, Pimentel said.

The Senate president said it is possible that the outcome of the criminal charge Trillanes had filed against Duterte’s son, resigned Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and lawyer Manases Carpio, would be same as those to be filed against President Duterte and Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Manaeses Carpio is President Duterte’s son-in-law and a nephew of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio- Morales

Pimentel said the Senate is not the only forum that Trillanes could go to.

He made the comment after Trillanes filed yesterday morning Senate Resolution 602 asking the Senate leadership to direct the Senate banks committee chaired by Sen. Francis G. Escudero to conduct a public hearing, in aid of legislation, on a possible violation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) by no less than the President and his daughter.

This, according to Trillanes, is based on the bank documents showing ‘undisclosed transactions’ as defined by the AMLA ‘with the end in view of recommending legislative measures to promote efficient compliance with the AMLA and further improving the said law.’
