Erich Gonzales has rolled up her sleeves and she’s ready to let ’er rip!

Stronger, bolder and wiser. This is the guiding principle of actor Erich Gonzales in fulfilling her endeavors. Why, just recently, she flaunted her figure not once, but twice: for a sexy calendar and in surf romance movie “Siargao.”

It didn’t stop there. The 27-year-old actress bared even more skin on the cover of a local magazine. Indeed, this lady is lit!

In an interview, she said it is her way of moving on from the past to continue her journey towards self-discovery and self-love.

“I think nasa right age naman na po tayo (to do these things),” she said. “I feel like it’s the right time. I’m not getting any younger and sabi ko nasa point na ako ng buhay ko na I just wanna do everything now kasi ’di ba if not, kailan pa?”

Will she further go down the sexy route, we asked.

“Ever since naman when I accepted ‘Katorse’ feeling ko kapag may nagawa ka na kasing isang proyekto ayaw mo na nang pa-ulit-ulit. Graduate na tayo sa pabebe roles, sa pa-cute roles, tweetums o kung ano man,” she simply said. “Gusto natin laging may maipakitang iba naman sa audience natin.”

With that pronouncement, summer has officially arrived.

Three, spree

Erich returns on TV via ABS-CBN’s “The Blood Sisters” where she does the triple roles of Erika, Carrie and Agatha. They are triplets carried by a surrogate mother but got separated after an agreement their parents made fell through.

The actress said that, but of course, each character has a different personality and look. Erika is a single mother who will do everything for her son even if it means being a dancer in a bar. On the other hand, Carrie, the smart and sophisticated woman, is an infertility specialist. Lastly, Agatha is the rebel and dangerous among the three.

Playing Agatha was most challenging because all of her scenes are intense, Erich said. There were even scenes when she felt her veins would burst or she would have a heart attack.

“So naka stand by ’yung ambulance just in case,” she said in jest.

She believes each of the characters possesses some of her traits in real life.

Erich said that just like Erika, she is willing to do everything for her loved ones. Like Carrie, Erich is passionate with her craft. As for Agatha, the actress likes her go-getter nature. Among her preparation for the roles is learning Ilocano, Agatha’s dialect. She noted that doing Erika, a countrywoman from Davao, is a cinch as the actress was born in Davao del Sur. “Ito po ’yung kumbaga dream project so talagang wala na tayong ititira sa sarili natin. Let’s just give it our all,” she proudly said. Open to improvements She is happy ABS-CBN and Dreamscape gave her this opportunity to showcase her mettle. “Nag-fall into places lang lahat,” Erich mused. “Nagsimula tayo sa isang desisyon na ‘Okay I wanna better myself’ and then nagtuloy-tuloy na po ’yung mga offers, mga projects.” “Hindi naman secret sa atin na naging rough ’yung last year ko. Hindi siya naging madali. So that dumating tayo sa decision na ‘Okay instead of being sad gawin natin na maging positive ’yung mga nangyayari,’” the actress added. Inspiration or distraction? Real talk: Is she in love right now?

But if she’ll have a new boyfriend, will she seriously consider settling down.

“Every relationship naman siyempre ’yun naman ’yung pinagpi-pray natin na sana ’yun na. But, may mga bagay talaga na kailangan nating tanggapin na hindi meant to be, hindi talaga para sa’yo. You just have to wait patiently and don’t settle for anything, na just because siya ’yung nandiyan eh siya na lang. Know what you deserve. Just wait. Eventually ibibigay din sa’yo ng Diyos ’yan.”

Erich pointed out there’s more to life than being in a relationship. She said people can be happy on their own and find genuine happiness in other things.

She will be wiser in choosing her next boyfriend, Erich said.

“Hindi na tayo bata. Of course after relationship, next step natin family, building a life together so it’s very important na ’yung magiging partner mo, siya na talaga. Hindi lang basta kilig kilig and all because eventually in the long run mawawala naman ’yung look, ’yung body or whatever. ’Yung mag-stay talaga is ’yung character.” Instead of entertaining suitors, Erich prefers spending her days off resting or preparing for work the following day. “Because, like what I said, hindi talaga siya madali. Itong ‘Blood Sisters’ ay ibang klase. Importante na hindi ako masiraan ng bait so kailangan po ’pag may time mag-rest, rest ka talaga. And

while resting dapat keep reading the script,” she said. “The Blood Sisters” premieres Feb. 12. (With report by Bhenj Agustin)
