One of the primary suspects in the killing of the deputy police chief of Cainta, Rizal was arrested in Taguig City early yesterday morning.

Arrested was Ruben Paglinawan Gomez, 41, a resident of Riverside, Cainta, Rizal.

Acting on a report from a concerned citizen, the Taguig City police proceeded to Central Signal village where Gomez was creating trouble while armed with a 29-inch knife.

Police officers from the Tagui City Police Community Precinct 4 subdued and arrested Gomez who was brought to the police station.

The arresting team later found out that Gomez was the prime suspect in the death of Senior Insp. Jimmy Senosin.

Senosin was killed in an encounter with Gomez, Hermogenes Lachica, alias Ekis, and other members of the “Highway Boys” robbery and holdup group who have since ventured to the illegal drugs trade.

Gomez admitted participating in the shootout with Senosin and his men.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa earlier ordered the immediate arrest of Gomez and Lachica.

The city government of Cainta also raised a R100,000 bounty for anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of Gomez and Lachica.

Gomez is detained at the Taguig City Police headquarters pending inquest proceedings.
