There are no permanent friends in show business? It’s likely Michelle Vito and Liza Soberano Soberano are clucking their tongues at that thought.
The two actresses have remained best friends after they were launched as part of Star Magic Circle in 2013.
In a recent interview, Michelle said even though they seldom see each other lately due to their busy work schedules, their solid connection is unshaken.
“Hindi doon nabe-base ’yung friendship. Kahit na hindi kayo lagi nagkikita, ang mahalaga nandiyan kayo for each other ’pag kailangan niyo ang isa’t-isa,” she said. “Kami, kahit matagal hindi nagkikita, ’pag nagsama parang andu’n pa din ’yung connection. Walang bago, walang awkwardness.”
They have many similar likes or dislikes. For one, they’d choose bonding at home over partying anytime.
“Chill lang kami, ayaw namin ng masyado madaming tao,” Michelle revealed. “Masaya na kaming dalawa na movies lang, kwentuhan lang, ice cream, and sleep over.”
The best friends often hear mass in Baclaran. They don’t even try to hide their identities elaborately – caps will do, thank you.
They’re always roommates come the annual Star Magic ball.
“Parang hindi na kailangang tanungin kung mag-roommates kasi talagang roommate na,” she said.
Michelle said Liza has remained humble, and “kilala pa din niya lahat ng tao ng nasa paligid niya.” Who is the Liza Soberano few know? “Feeling ko na mi-mistaken ng tao ’yung soft spoken siya na ’pag nagsalita sobrang hinhin. Pero ’yung personality niya talaga na kapag may gusto siyang ipaglaban like issues, ipaglalaban niya talaga.”
‘Ate’
Michelle proudly shared they have always been there for each other in times of need.
“Merong time na I was there for her. Nasa school ako then tumawag siya (Liza) sa akin,” she shared.
When asked what happened next, she said, “Secret.”
Although Michelle is three months older than Liza, the latter acts as the older sister. She said Liza calls her bunso.
The model-actress divulged Liza encourages her to become a better actress and person. “Minsan pinapagalitan talaga niya ako pero in a good way naman na hindi naman niya ako inaaway,” Michelle said.
#Bucketlist?
Last year, Michelle received appraisal that she could be a beauty queen. Note that Liza often gets that, too. Maybe they should join a pageant together, we suggested. “’Wag kaming sabay kasi mananalo siya,” she said in jest. “Pwede akong mauna kasi mas matanda ako tapos siya.” The two are the new endorsers of the Samsung Galaxy J7 and J7 Pro phones. She said working with her bestfriend for the endorsement was smooth as “parang hindi kami nagta-trabaho.” “I mean walang pressure na ka-trabaho mo siya. Hindi mo isiipin kung anong kailangan mong gawin, kailangang ipakita kasi ’yung mga giggles, mga bonding eh normal naman naming ginagawa ’yun. Hindi na kailangang i-acting, hindi awkward. Sobrang saya lang.” Michelle is excited the phone also comes in pink, her favorite color. “Since babae ako mahilig ako sa mga girly and ’yun nga perfect ’yung phone na ’yun for people like me kasi it matches my personality din,” she said. ‘Normal life’
Aside from fulfilling her dream as an actress, Michelle is busy taking up Business Administration in Human Resource Management at the College of St. Benilde. But why not a media-related course? “Sabi nga nila sa akin mag-MassCom ako pero kasi ako gusto ko na malayo, para iba,” she said. “Gusto ko mag-Culinary pero pwede naman kasi ako mag-vocational course ng culinary lang. Then Psychology kaso sa Benilde wala so pinagsama ko ’yung business na may halong Psychology.”
Michelle is happy that despite being a public figure she still feels “normal” whenever she goes to school.
And although some of her batchmates have already graduated, Michelle has no problem she’s yet to do that.
“Hindi naman talaga mahalaga ’yun, basta (kailangang) makapagtapos . Tsaka parang naiintindihan din naman nila na siyempre nagwo-work na ako at mahirap talagang ma-maximize ’yung full load na subjects,” she said.
