Centro seeks 4th straight

- By JEROME LAGUNZAD

Games Today (Ynares Sports Arena) 2 p.m. – Perpetual Help vs Batangas 4 p.m. – CEU vs Go for Gold

Centro Escolar Yong Garcia is doubtful today when the Scorpions seek to stretch their unbeaten start to four matches against Go for Gold in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Garcia is set to undergo extracorporeal shockwave therapy to remove kidney stones at the Manila Doctors Hospital last night, making him questionable for the Scorpions’ 4 p.m. showdown with the struggling Scratchers.

Without Garcia, his top deputy, Nani Epondulan, is taking over the coaching mantle as CEU aims to follow up its 9185 victory over contender Zark’s Burgers last Tuesday.

Congolese center Rod Ebondo, who dominated the Jawbreakers with 33 points and 20 rebounds, is expected to serve as the Scorpions’ pillar of strength anew.

Clashing in the opener at 2 p.m. are Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College and Perpetual Help, both determined to keep themselves in contention for playoff spots.

The Generals are eager to pick up from where they left off following an 81-71 victory over struggling Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers last Monday, while the Altas are aching to bounce back from an 81-69 loss to the Scratchers last week, hoping that prized Nigerian center Prince Eze has recovered from a bruised hip that slowed him down the last time out.
