AdU Lady Falcons shock De La Salle

Adamson regained its old form after a two-game slide as it stunned two-time defending champion La Salle, 25-18, 15-25, 25-19, 25-22, yesterday in UAAP women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.

Mylene Paat spearheade­d the Lady Falcons in a 12-1 blast to grab the upperhand from a 9-5 deficit to a 17-10 lead that served as a pivotal point in the fourth frame.

It was Adamson’s third win in six outings, maintainin­g its place in the middle standings, while La Salle absorbed its second loss against four triumphs to remain at No. 2.

Eli Soyud anchored the Lady Falcons throughout by sizzling with 18 points on 13 attacks, three blocks and two service aces.

Far Eastern University survived the late challenge of University of the East to post a 25-20, 25-17, 2426, 25-22 victory yesterday in UAAP women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Tamaraws rediscover­ed their touch in the fourth and hang tough against the Lady Warriors’ challenge to snare their third victory against two losses.

FEU saw its 23-20 third-set lead vanish after Mary Ann Mendrez stepped up for UE, wrapping up the set with an off-the-block spike and a service ace that gave the Lady Warriors the needed win.

UE resumed its fiery rhythm in the fourth, but FEU turned up its aggressive­ness at the net several not to pull away from a slim 19-18 lead for good.
