- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

Alow pressure area (LPA) off Mindanao could bring moderate to at times heavy rains over the Caraga, Davao and Soccsksargen regions today.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 455 kilometers east-southeast of Davao City, yesterday morning.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.

Residents in these areas must take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides and coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected over Masbate, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and the rest of Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos region.

PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
