Rody hosts Palace dinner for starstruck Megastar
President Duterte had dinner with Megastar Sharon Cuneta in Malacañang despite political differences with the singer-actress’s husband, Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan.
In photos shared by Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go in his Facebook page late Tuesday, Duterte was seen smiling while dining with Cuneta whom he earlier described as a good family friend.
“Dinner with PRRD and Sharon Cuneta. Sarap ng sardinas,” Go said in his post which did not identify the other individuals present during the dinner.
Starstruck Megastar In a Facebook post, Cuneta gushed about her encounter with the President and even said that she was excited to tell her husband about the dinner which was also attended by her older brother Chet Cuneta.
She also posted photos of the pen they received as a gift from the President.
“Got home before sunrise then my hubby woke up to start his day. ‘Di pa ko nakakatanggal ng make-up cos I was excitedly making him kuwento about the President and kuya (I wasn’t able to remove my make-up because I was excitedly telling him about the President and my older brother), and our friends and how much fun we had,” Cuneta said.
The singer added that Pangilinan was happy for her and her brother, and clarified that the political differences between the Senator and the President are nothing personal.
She also said that the two politicians respect each other.
Politics aside “He’s so chill and happy that kuya (Chet) and I are happy! ‘Di naman personal ang ‘di nila pagkakasundo sa pulitika (Their political differences is nothing personal),” Cuneta said.
“(S)abi nga ni Tatay Digong kanina eh (Like what the President said earlier) - they respect each other even if they disagree on certain things. Well - that’s why it’s nice that we live in a free country. Politics? Temporary,” she added.
In an Instragram post, Cuneta thanked Duterte for making her and her older brother happy that night.
She also shared that Duterte and her late father, Pablo, were good friends.

“Thank you, Mr. President. We pray that God’s hand be upon you so that you may steer our country where He knows it will be best! May God bless you, sir,” she said.
Last month, Duterte said that he is grateful for the many things Cuneta has done for his family. Fans He also earlier said that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, is an avid fan of the singeractress.
“Ma’am Sharon, thank you for remembering me. I am your good friend. And my daughter, Sara, ay talagang ina-idolize ka hanggang ngayon (really idolizes you until today). And I am happy that she has chosen the right person to make as an inspiration,” Duterte said in a video message to Cuneta posted on the Megastar’s Instagram account.
