PRC sets up 180 first aid stations to assist Holy Week travellers

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) PRC has set up 180 first aid stations and deployed 75 ambulance units in different areas nationwide, and assigned 1,500 staff and volunteers to provide first aid assistance and ambulance services to pilgrims and tourists during the Holy Week break, starting March 26 to April 1.

“In anticipation of the influx of travellers as well as people in places of worship this Holy Week, the Philippine Red Cross ensures the safety of the general public by setting set-up first aid stations, welfare desks, as well as providing ambulance service in areas where people are likely to converge,” PRC Chairman Richard Gordon said.

PRC has set up a total of 180 first aid stations and deployed 75 ambulance units in different areas nationwide. There are also welfare desks to provide psychosocial support, referral assistance, and tracing assistance for people with missing relatives/companions.

These efforts are stationed in 45 major highways, 25 bus terminals, 10 gas stations, 50 churches, 25 beach areas, as well as 10 sea and air ports. Fifteen stations are also set up in areas like parks, mountains with pilgrimage areas, and other public places nationwide.

PRC also has a First Aid PH app, which offers instant access to instructions on how to administer basic first aid, as well as preparedness tests for a variety of possible incidents. The app can be accessed even when offline. It can be downloaded for free on Apple App Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices.

PRC services include disaster management, health, welfare, blood, volunteer service, and Red Cross youth.
