- By ANTHONY GIRON

NAIC, Cavite — An eight-year-old boy died on Saturday while his 14-yearold brother was injured when they were sideswiped by a pick-up truck after a family outing at a beach resort in this municipality.

RL Abraham Gabing, a resident of 63 Sitio GSIS, Barangay San Martin de Porres, Parañaque City, died from head injuries at San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital in Naic.

His brother, Ralph Lawrence, sustained minor body injuries and was brought to the same hospital.

Ruel Encenas Lucerna, 53, driver of the yellow Mitsubishi Fuso pick-up truck (license plate DTX 476) was held by police following the accident on the dark Timalan Concepcion Highway at 7:20 p.m.

PO2 Anthony Macario, case investigator, reported that the Tanza-bound truck hit the Gabing brothers as they were crossing the road.

Macario said the accident happened after the two brothers, other siblings, their parents and other relatives went on day-long outing at the nearby Aroma Beach Resort.

The group was crossing the road to take a passenger bus back to Parañaque. The truck hit only the two minors.

Macario had yet to determine the cause of the accident but speculated that the driver failed to step on the brakes as the minors were crossing the road.

The investigator said a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries was to be filed against Lucerna on Monday.

It was the fourth fatal road accident during the week in the province’s districts, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) reports showed.
