Katrina Velarde conquers Music Hall today
KATRINA VELARDE offers “Pop Variety Night” at the Music Hall.
It’s been a long way, indeed, since she started as an “amaturista” in singing competitions both in Manila and in the provinces. Katrina rose to mainstream popularity as member of AKA JAM – an all-girl vocal group who mentored under Gary Valenciano when they competed in the group division of “X-Factor Philippines.”
Katrina’s popularity among music lovers is further bolstered by her online videos wherein she performs cover versions of her favorite songs using purple comb as makeshift microphone. Some of the videos that she posted online which reached millions of views are her renditions of Beyoncé’s “Dangerously In Love” and Kuh Ledesma’s “Til I Met You;” as well as her outstanding interpretation of Ellie’s “Burn” where she performed the song impersonating the vocal talents of such iconic performers as Shakira, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and Celine Dion among many others.
Her live performance of Michael Bolton’s “Go The Distance” on Wish 103.5’s “Wish Bus” got a record-breaking 4 million views on YouTube.
Katrina has two hit singles out under Viva Records – “Lason Mong Halik” and “Taksil.”
For her show at Music Hall in Metrowalk, she takes on power ballad favorites, OPM classics, jazz masterpieces, and current chart-toppers.
