‘Isko’ appointed DSWD undersecretary
President Duterte has appointed former Manila Vice Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso as an Undersecretary at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Aside from Domagoso, Duterte also named three other appointees to three different government agencies.
Domagoso's new position under the Duterte administration came almost seven months after the former actor resigned from his post as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of North Luzon Railways Corp. (NORTHRAIL), citing personal reasons.
The former Manila Vice Mayor's appointment paper was signed by Duterte on Tuesday.
Domagoso served as Manila Vice Mayor from 2007 to 2016.
Thankful Domagoso, in a text message to the Manila Bulletin, said that he is thankful for President Duterte's trust and confidence.
"Malugod po akong nagpapasalamat sa muling pagtitiwala na ipinagkaloob sa atin ng ating Pangulong Duterte (I sincerely thank President Duterte for trusting me again)," he said.
"Malaking trabaho at responsibilidad po ito ngunit gagawin ko po ang lahat upang magampanan ang aking tungkulin inatang sa atin sa abot ng aking makakaya para sa mga nangangailan natin mga mahihirap na kababayan (This is a big responsibility but I will do everything to fulfill my duties to serve the less fortunate)," he added.
Domagoso has stayed away from the public eye for a year after failing to win a Senate seat in 2016.
"After one year of absence sa (in) public service, balik na tayo sa public service ngayon (I am now back)," he had said.
Manila politics It was reported that Domagoso is one of the personalities expected by Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada to run against him in the 2019 midterm elections.
Other personalities named by Estrada that he might be pitted against are former senator Manuel Villar, and former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.
Domagoso, however, said that he has no plans, so far of running for Manila mayor.
Other appointees PDP-Laban Regional Coordinator in Western Visayas Gerar Camiña was named as a new member of the Board of Directors at the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
Based on his appointment paper signed May 8, Camiña will serve the unexpired term of Romeo Poquiz that will end on June 30, 2018.
Duterte also named Ayala Corp. Head of Public Policy and Associate Director Antonio Joselito Lambino II as assistant secretary at the Department of Finance.
