- By DAVE ALBARADO

TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial consultant on health revealed on Friday the waters off Panglao Island, passed tests on water safety/cleanliness conducted by the regional office of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).

Cezar Tomas Lopez, provincial governor’s consultant on health, said that based on the official tests by the EMB, all 10 samples taken from 10 various locations passed the total coliform and total fecal coliform test.

The total fecal coliform test measures of the quality of water in a given area.

The consultant said he was informed by the office of the EMB regional director William Cuñado about the results.

The EMB has been conducting tests on the quality of the waters especially near beach resorts in Panglao even before the Boracay issue on water quality made headlines.

Lopez said the EMB team and the team from the province side by side took water samples.

Gov. Edgar Chatto directed the office of Arsenio Torrejos, the officer-in-charge of the Septage Laboratory at the Provincial Health Office to conduct sampling activities and testing of the samples.

Torrejos and his team collected samples in 10 locations which are the same locations where the EMB sourced its samples.

The sampling sites are: Dumaluan I, in Barangay Bolod, Dumaluan II in Barangay Bolod, Amorita Cliff in Barangay Tawala, Alona Tropical in Barangay Tawala, Alona Kew in Barangay Tawala, Lost Horizon in Barangay Danao, Bohol Divers in Barangay Danao, Linaw Beach Resort in Barangay Danao, Bellevue Resort in Barangay Doljo, and Muro-Ami Beach Resort in Barangay Doljo.
