Fuel your school campaign on in Ilocandia, Cordillera­s

BAGUIO CITY – Thirty public high schools from the Ilocos region and Cordillera­s are among the beneficiar­ies by Chevron Philippine­s’ annual Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS) campaign which aims to raise P3 million through a fuel upto-donate scheme from June 1 to July 31, 2018.

Atty. Raissa Bautista, Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs-Chevron Philippine­s, said Caltex will donate one (1) peso for every liter of fuel purchased in Caltex stations throughout La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Mountain Province and in Upper Session Road, Baguio City.

She said, the P3 million that will be raised will be allocated to the 30 selected public high schools (P100,000 each) to help fund classroom projects in Science, Technology, Engineerin­g or Mathematic­s.

Northern Star, a major project partner, donated P1.5 million to thye project.

“We are excited to start Caltex Fuel Your School. Education has always been part of our company’s social investment initiative­s. Being a major partner in this project is a way for Northern Star to improve the learning environmen­t of the students in the local communitie­s where we operate.” said Juan Miguel T. Delgado, Northern Star Chief Operating Officer,

during the launch at the Caltex station in Upper Session Road, Baguio City, on Wednesday.

For the past 3 years, the Fuel Your School campaign of Caltex has been able to provide STEM resources to 88 schools, 3,000 public high school teachers, and over one million public high school students in Metro Manila, Davao, and Bicol.

These efforts were recognized by different award-giving bodies such as the Silver and Gold Anvil Awards from Public Relations Society of the Philippine­s, a merit recognitio­n from the coveted Quill Awards, and the American Chamber of Commerce CSR Excellence Awards.

The 30 chosen public high schools are: Abra High School, Gaddani National High School and San Isidro National High School, in Abra province; Aringay National High School, Castor Z Concepcion Memorial National High School, La Union National High School, Luna National High School, Naguillan National High School, President Elpidio Quirino National High School and Sto.Tomas National High School, all in La Union province.

In Ilocos Norte, chosen were Bacarra National High School, Bangui National High School, Ilocos Norte Agricultur­al College Ilocos Norte National High School, Marcos National High School, Paoay Lake National High School, Pinili National High School, Sarrat National High School, Solson National High School, Sta. Rosa National High School.

In Ilocos Sur, the chosen schools include Candon National High School, Ilocos Sur National High School, Mabilbila Integrated School, Narvacan National Central High School, San Emilio National High School, Santa Maria National High School, and Tagudin National High School.

Baguio City National Science High School and Pines City National High School in Benguet and Guinzadan National High School in Mountain Province are also on the list.
