‘God really blessed me with so many things. I’m so grateful, thankful na binibigyan ako ng mga ganitong opportunities’

Way different from the romcoms and the dramas she’s done, Rhian Ramos gets to act tough like an action star at work these days.

The sexy actress stars in two action films this year: “The Trigonal” alongside mixed martial artist Ian Ignacio, and “72 Hours” with Cavite vice governor and returning actor Jolo Revilla.

In an interview, Rhian admitted doing things that requires physical stunts has always been her cup of tea. “Before kasi puro drama ako eh so one time, I prayed to God na sana comedy naman. Then He gave me ‘The One That Got Away’ so dream come true yon. Tapos nag-pray ulit ako na sana next naman is action. Answered prayer talaga

kasi hindi lang isa, dalawa pang action films ang binigay sa akin,” she said.

“The Trigonal” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival recently. Rhian was supposed to walk the red carpet but eschewed it for her father and stepmom’s 10th wedding anniversary celebration in Thailand.

“It’s a first time for me that my movie is included in Cannes. So I was really excited to be part of it,” she shared. “Kaya

lang I had a family event on exactly same date eh growing up, I’m always that type of person na laging excited for work…

na work palagi above everything else. But now, family first na talaga for me. I believe that’s not my last chance naman (to attend Cannes),” she shared.

“The Trigonal” is about Jacob Casa (Ian), a Fil-Am martial arts champion who returns to his hometown and opens an MMA school with his childhood friend. He is obsessed about the fight game, finding it hard to turn down any chance to engage in professional competition.

All the while, he is deeply in love with his Fil-Am wife Annie (Rhian). Complicating matters is Jacob starting to consider taking on an underground fight, his wife and unborn child become collateral in a ruthless drug lord’s lunatic ambitions.

The film is set for release in local theaters this July.

On the other hand, “72 Hours” sees Rhian as Alexa, a police woman assigned to work with PDEA agents in a big anti-drug operation.

“Yey, its more actions for me!” she exclaimed. “God really blessed me with so many things. I’m so grateful, thankful na binibigyan ako ng mga ganitong opportunities.”

Apart from the movies, Rhian aims to release an album.

“Mayroon na akong five or six songs na naisusulat. This (album) is something I want to do in the future so talagang pinaghahandaan ko siya kasi I also want the people to hear very authentic and very honest songs from she said.

That’s for “continuity” purposes, she noted. “I always want to look like Rhian kasi. ’Di ba ang tendency kapag iba-iba ’yung nagme-makeup sayo, minsan nag-iiba din ’yung look,” she explained. “Most of my events, I’ll do makeup on my own and natuto ako out of necessity talaga.”

The 27-year-old actress believes in the saying, “The way you present yourself is how you want to be treated sometimes.” It’s the reason she advises every makeup enthusiast to “always look for the right product for your skin” as makeup “helps boost your confidence.”

“Kasi ’di ba not everything works for you talaga. Like, first, you have to understand your skin tone pa, kung anong shade ang bagay sa’yo. Ako, I use concealers na hindi magmumukhang ‘Ay naka-foundation siya.’ I prefer a no makeup look kasi it’s very feminine and non-threatening,” she shared.

“When I want to feel tough naman, I put some eyeliner and dark lipstick. So sometimes it depends on your mood din.”

Rhian was recently tapped as the first-ever celebrity endorser of M&Co. Cosmetics Inc. She looks forward to have her own makeup line soon.

“I would really love to do that in the future. Kasi I’d been doing makeup for myself for seven years

na and I guess, marami naman na akong na-discover na secrets or tips that I can share with the girls so let’s see,” she said.
