Sima Asean agribusiness trade show opens in Bangkok June 6
Filipino agribusiness people will benefit a lot when they attend the SIMA Asean Agribusiness trade show which will be held on June 6-8 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
Loy Joon How, general manager of Impact Exhibition Management Co., said that various conferences and seminars with various organizations, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), will provide updates and knowldege for both international and Thai visitors.
MOAC is organizing three show features to help farmers gain new knowledge, keep up with new technology such as automatic machinery and to connect farmers to the international market.
1. The National Farmers Forum will feature an intense two-day seminar overing key topics that include: New technology in machinery for sugarcane; Transformation towards sustainability in livestock; and “Khok Nhong Nha” featuring the practical farming innovations developed through the initiatives of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, now known as King Rama IX. These are featured in a book titled “Royal Activities and International Cooperation” published just a few years before he passed away.
2. The Machinery Showcase which will cover 972 square meters will display technology usage in the agriculture industy, with drones, artificial intelligence, mobile applications among others.
3. The Cooperative Union Pavilion will feature unions from the Thai provinces and covering key production areas, including rice, dairy, rubber, coffee and fruits.
Aside from the features mentioned above, other conferences and seminars will include: “Agriculture Eco Tourism for the New Generation” hosted by the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives; “Let’s Become a Smart Farmer” hosted by Kehakaset; and “Plant Genetic Conservation and Seed Production,” hosted by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
Several agribusinessmen from the Philippines are attending Sima Asean 2018. Among them are Eugene Gabriel and his board of directors at Right Agri, Dr. Ronaldo Sumaoang of Novatech Food Industries and his group, Gonzalo Catan Jr. of Mapecon Group, Toto Barcelona of Harbest Agribusiness, Phillip Ong of Santeh Feeds and others.
