This unique race will get those endorphins going
Elle Woods said it best, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins makes you happy. Happy people just don't kill their husbands. They just don’t.” So to prevent a spate of spousal homicides, you should check out the World Vertical Circuit. Now on its third year, the event will be returning to the Philippines for the Kerry Sports Manila Vertical Run 2018 with EastWest Bank. This international stair climbing race that stops by iconic cities around the world, including Seoul, Paris, New York, Beijing, Shanghai, Osaka, London, and Hong Kong is scheduled to take place in Manila this coming July 8, at Shangri-La at the Fort.
For fitness enthusiasts looking to put a spin to their usual fun-run participation, vertical running or stair running might just be the next big challenge to take on. Undeniably more physically demanding than normal running, Kerry Sports’ Vertical Run dares runners to race up 59 floors, conquering 1,353 steps to a height of 250 meters. And if one decides to take this seriously, the Vertical World Circuit will tally all the points of a participant in every leg he or she competes in, including Manila, to determine the year’s world champion. The tenth and last leg is scheduled in Hong Kong this December.
An addition to this year’s leg is the complimentary conditioning training program, which will start on 2 June and will be held every Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., in the Arena basketball court at Kerry Sports Manila. The training sessions are open to all participants who have signed up for the run. Participants will need to present their confirmation email to avail of the complimentary conditioning training sessions.
The run has categories for beginners, elite, individuals, and groups. Registration is open until June 28. Interested participants can register online by visiting manilaverticalrun.com to fill in the online form. They may also register over the counter at Kerry Sports Manila in Shangri-La at the Fort, Taguig.
