Easy pregnancy for Iya

- By STEPHANIE MARIE BERNARDINO

Like her previous pregnancy, Iya Villania is carrying her second child with husband Drew Arellano sans hitches. The only difference she noted is that her tummy is bigger and she’s more picky with the food she eats. Still, she gets nervous once in awhile.

“Nakakapraning pa rin siya eh ’cause every pregnancy is different eh,” she pointed out.

They already know how to divide their attention between their first-born Primo and the coming baby.

“I think it’s just normal that we give bigger attention sa fragile but kahit papaano alam na namin ’yung split duties namin as we have talked about it already,” Drew said.

By then, and only for awhile, Primo will sleep with Drew.

“We can’t sleep in the same room because whenever the baby wakes up, magigising si Primo so we have to separate ourselves muna,” he said.

Is the 38-year-old host still a hands-on dad?

“I want to believe so,” he answered. “I guess I’m lucky enough that I only do TV work for three days in a week so most days in a week I can stay in the house, do my business but still br in the house and be with Primo.”

Drew feels a different kind of excitement with the baby due in August.

“Nag-iba na siguro kasi less fear. I mean having your first parang ‘Oh my God it’s my first.’ But I think both of us naman,

lalo na siguro siya (Iya) kasi nasa kanya ’yun (baby), nasa loob niya so I was just

there to support na parang ‘Okay do you need anything or whatever?’” he said.

Asked how fatherhood continues to change him, Drew said, “Certain priorities change. You get to understand that there is certain type of love, that different type of love when the child is born in front of you. You feel that you’re capable of such love, parang ganu’n. It’s just automatic.” He continued: “It’s so human. Parang I guess this is true for all fathers, parents that they wanna be at home all the time. Parang before may mga new films that you wanna watch pero hindi na ngayon kasi alam mo na that’s not your priority as you just want to spend time with your family.” Drew revealed that even before he had his own family, he knew he wanted to be a good father someday just like his dad. “I always felt that everything is written already and I just have to follow it.” Food is life Iya and Drew bond a lot in the kitchen. The 31-year-old host-actress said she’s thankful her husband taught her certain techniques in cooking. She also learns from doing their show “Home Foodie.” The new season sees the couple’s cooking skills level up. There will also be more consumer engagement, new chefs, and more delectable dishes. The two will provide tips and offer meal solutions to both TV viewers and to the online community. The show will also feature meals inspired by trending dishes in restaurants and new hacks and twists to classic favorites. Among the new chefs who will join Chef Llena Tan-Arcenas in guiding Iya and Drew are Chefs Martin Narisma and John Valley. The new season of “San Miguel Purefoods Home Foodie” starts airing on GMA-7 today after “Unang Hirit.”
