It’s good entertainment. Your brain won’t be overworked. You won’t get stressed. Yes, you puzzle things out but the story carries you along its current with no effort. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

“Ocean’s 11” then 12 and 13 brought us a band of witty and stellar actors and “Ocean’s 8” is the flip of that. It’s a powerful all-woman cast, as is the trend in Hollywood nowadays. But trend or not, this is a great movie to watch.

As is the case in all the previous “Ocean’s” movies, this is about another cunning heist. And as always, no matter how you predict things, you can never guess how it’s all done. I have followed the original “Ocean’s” trilogy well and have rewatched them over and over, finding every minute of them a delight. No matter how you try to predict things, even knowing the outcome, you can’t see the “how” of it all.

“Ocean’s 8” tried to do the same thing. And in a way, it succeeded. It is as unpredictable as the other three movies but it feels much lighter. Well, maybe the gowns and jewelry tend to make things feel frivolous?

But shine and shimmer aside, it’s really worth watching. On a plus note, watch out for the happy cameo’s of some well-loved characters. It’ll be like saying hello to old friends.

Starring Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, she has planned an epic jewel heist following the footsteps of her brother Danny. Cate Blanchett acts as the Brad Pitt to her Clooney. Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Awkwafina and Mindy Kaling add to the mix as well, lending their considerable skills and talent to make the gang run smooth.

It is Helena Bonham Carter though, that brings out the laughter from the audience. You know that when Carter is there, you are going to watch something very unique. No boring roles for her. Ever.

But it is Anne Hathaway that steals the show. Her acting skills in this movie shine, despite not being as dramatic as Cosette in her Les Mis role. In fact, it is in her vapid emptiness that allows you to see every nuance of her skill. From her eyebrows, to her lips and to the simple stretch of her neck… she carries her role stupendously.

All in all, it’s good entertainment. Your brain won’t be overworked. You won’t get stressed. Yes, you puzzle things out but the story carries you along its current with no effort. Just sit back and enjoy the ride in the Ocean.
