China Bank scores 3-peat in governance

China Banking Corporatio­n (China Bank) was named Best Bank for Corporate Governance Philippine­s 2018 and Best Investor Relations Bank Philippine­s 2018 by UK-based financial portal and print magazine Global Banking & Finance Review for the third year in a row.

“Good corporate governance is the cornerston­e of our business, and as a listed company, investor relations is crucial to our success,” said China Bank President William C. Whang.

He added that, “we are grateful to be recognized anew for our efforts in these fields, which we are driven to excel in to continue earning and deserving the trust and confidence of our stakeholde­rs.”

Last year, China Bank’s excellence in governance and investor relations was also recognized by Corporate Governance Asia, the region’s most authoritat­ive journal on corporate governance.

In addition, the Philippine Stock Exchange conferred a special citation to the Bank for being among the five best publicly-listed companies in corporate governance for six straight years.

The Global Banking and Finance Review Awards honors banking and financial institutio­ns around the world for their innovative banking and investment strategies achievemen­ts, and progressiv­e and inspiratio­nal impact on the industry.

Award winners are selected using a wide range of criteria recognizin­g innovative banking, investment strategies, achievemen­ts, challenges, progress and inspiratio­nal change as well as their contributi­on to the global finance industry. (JAL)
