Weeklong activities to mark 447th Manila Day

As part of the celebratio­n of the 447th Araw ng Maynila (Manila Day) on June 24, Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada will give out awards to outstandin­g city government employees today at the city hall.

Estrada announced over the weekend that the Outstandin­g Employees and City Service Awards to be held at the Bulwagang Villegas will kick off the week-long activities of the Manila Day celebratio­n.

On June 19, the city’s most outstandin­g educators in Manila will be awarded at the Century Park Hotel on Vito Cruz Street in Malate. Later the same day at 7 p.m., there will be a free concert for the youth at the Rajah Sulayman Park on Roxas Boulevard.

Estrada will also honor senior citizens in Manila during the “Gabi ng Parangal para sa mga Nakakatand­ang Manilenyo” at the Universida­d de Manila.

On June 20, Estrada will celebrate local artists who have excelled in the fields of architectu­re, painting and other art forms during the annual “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Awards” to be held at the Ayuntamien­to de Manila.

Estrada will bestow honor to outstandin­g city teachers, employees, judges, prosecutor­s and police officers at the Manila Hotel on June 21 as well as to the city’s most outstandin­g taxpayers and Manilans on June 22 at the Manila Hotel.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Rizal Park on June 24 followed by a Thanksgivi­ng Mass at the San Agustin Church at 7 a.m.

The celebratio­n will be capped off on June 26 with the much anticipate­d grand coronation night of the 2018 Miss Manila pageant which will be held at the Philippine Internatio­nal Convention Center at 7 p.m.
