Weeklong activities to mark 447th Manila Day
As part of the celebration of the 447th Araw ng Maynila (Manila Day) on June 24, Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada will give out awards to outstanding city government employees today at the city hall.
Estrada announced over the weekend that the Outstanding Employees and City Service Awards to be held at the Bulwagang Villegas will kick off the week-long activities of the Manila Day celebration.
On June 19, the city’s most outstanding educators in Manila will be awarded at the Century Park Hotel on Vito Cruz Street in Malate. Later the same day at 7 p.m., there will be a free concert for the youth at the Rajah Sulayman Park on Roxas Boulevard.
Estrada will also honor senior citizens in Manila during the “Gabi ng Parangal para sa mga Nakakatandang Manilenyo” at the Universidad de Manila.
On June 20, Estrada will celebrate local artists who have excelled in the fields of architecture, painting and other art forms during the annual “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Awards” to be held at the Ayuntamiento de Manila.
Estrada will bestow honor to outstanding city teachers, employees, judges, prosecutors and police officers at the Manila Hotel on June 21 as well as to the city’s most outstanding taxpayers and Manilans on June 22 at the Manila Hotel.
A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Rizal Park on June 24 followed by a Thanksgiving Mass at the San Agustin Church at 7 a.m.
The celebration will be capped off on June 26 with the much anticipated grand coronation night of the 2018 Miss Manila pageant which will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center at 7 p.m.
