‘Habagat’ still stalking Luzon; expect rains, floods, landslides

- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

The public should continue to be on the alert for possible flooding or landslide over the western section of Luzon due to the prevailing southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat.”

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Pangasinan, Bataan, and Zambales will experience mod-

erate to occasional heavy rains due to habagat.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Babuyan group of islands, Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac will have cloudy skies with light to moderate monsoon rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

By Tuesday until Wednesday, PAGASA said the impact of the southwest monsoon may weaken leading to cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in the western section of Northern and Central Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

By Thursday until Friday, it said there is a higher chance of thunderstorms and rain showers over extreme Northern Luzon due to the southwest monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms is expected mostly during the afternoon or evening up to early morning.
