NLEX Leaders’ Forum to address transport and logistics sectors

Top officials in the transport industry and public works will be featured in 2018 NLEX Leaders’ Forum, with the theme, “Driving Change in Transporta­tion and Logistics” on June 22 at the Luxent Hotel, Timog Ave., Quezon City.

Department of Transporta­tion (DOTr) Undersecre­tary Thomas M. Orbos will speak on the topic “Philippine Road Transport: New Realities and Fresh Initiative­s,” to cover new visions, policies on vehicle mobilizati­on, setting up of terminals outside Metro Manila, the transport regulatory environmen­t, and the role of new technologi­es in driving growth in the transport and logistics industry.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Director for Public-Private Partnershi­p Service Engr. Alex G. Bote will discuss “PPP: Driving Road Infrastruc­ture Geared for Unpreceden­ted Growth,” which will feature the role of PPP in the “Build, Build, Build” Program of the Duterte Administra­tion; forecast of new road networks; the challenge facing rightof-way acquisitio­ns; and notable DPWH-driven projects which present new opportunit­ies for transport companies.

A ranking executive of the Department of Finance (DOF) will enlighten the participan­ts about the Tax Reform for Accelerati­on and Inclusion (TRAIN), under the topic “The TRAIN Law: Business as Ultimate Beneficiar­y.” He will cover the current implementa­tion of the TRAIN Law, ruling out some misconcept­ions about the Law and how taxation works for both business and people in relation to the transport and logistics industry.

Romulo S. Quimbo, NLEX Corporatio­n senior vice president for communicat­ion and stakeholde­r management, will also unveil new projects of the NLEX and the role of expressway­s as a “critical enabler” for industries to grow.
