TESDA conducts National Assessment Days
CEBU CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offered free admission assessment during the two-day National Assessment Days in all accredited assessment centers nationwide.
TESDA Negros Oriental public information officer Georgette Encarnacion Malagar said the assessment is part of the agency’s assessment and certification program for workers who want to enhance their skills and competence for local and global employment competitiveness.
The available qualifications in Negros Oriental are the following:
Construction Sector: Pipefitting NC II, Tile Setting NC II, Carpentry NC II, Masonry NC II, Plumbing NC II; (Metals and Engineering Sector) Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II.
Land Transport Sector: Automotive Servicing NC I, Automotive NC II, Driving NC II and for the Tourism Sector: Cookery NC II, Bread and Pastry NC II, Events Management NC III, Barista NC II, Food Processing NC II.
Health, Social and Other Community Development Services: Health Care Services NC II, Caregiving NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Helot and for (Wellness Massage) NC II, Hairdressing NC II, Beauty Care Services NC II, Pharmacy Services NC II, Bookkeeping NC III and for the Agra-Fishery Sector: Animal Production NC II, Organic Agriculture Production NC II.
Malagar said companies, industries, local government units (LGUs), national government agencies and other Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders took part in the assessment.
The assessment is open to the following applicants:
• Industry workers who have work experience to perform the competencies as defined in the respective Training Regulations
• Career shifters and unemployed adults who are looking for jobs
• Graduates of the TVET program
• Teachers, trainers and other individuals who have undergone training in TM1 and want to be certified TVET Trainers and / or TESDA Accredited Assessors.
Priority was given to qualifications under the Construction sector, Malagar said. (Minerva BC Newman)
