Ex-PEZA head joins FWD Life PH board

Former Director General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Lilia B. de Lima, has been appointed as member of the board of FWD Life Philippine­s.

De Lima, whose appointmen­t took effect last June 21, served as the first head of PEZA from 1995 to 2016.

As PEZA Head, De Lima was responsibl­e for building the agency into a showcase of regulatory reform, a model institutio­n of honest and committed public service, and a key contributo­r to the nation’s economic growth.

She was a recipient of the 2017 Ramon Magsaysay Award for her “unstinting, sustained leadership in building a credible and efficient PEZA, proving that honest, competent and dedicated work of public servants can, indeed, redound to real economic benefits to millions of Filipino.”

De Lima was also conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, the highest award given to a non-head of state, by the Government of Japan.

Other notable awards include: The Outstandin­g Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) in the field of law, 2011 Government Service Award by the Ateneo de Manila University, Management Man of the Year 2010 by the Management Associatio­n of the Philippine­s, among others.

Known as an unflinchin­g, formidable, and passionate public servant, De Lima also serves as a concurrent director of several companies and institutio­ns.
